The Crash of 1929

December 5, 2009 | | Leave a Comment

The Crash of 1929 is based on eight years of continued prosperity, presidents and economists alike confidently predicted that America would soon enter a time when there would be no more poverty, no more depressions — a “New Era” when everyone could be rich. The unbounded optimism of the Jazz Age and the shocking consequences when reality finally hit on October 29th, ultimately leading to the Great Depression. What a great experience to any US History lesson about the Great Depression.

You can view the entire program for free on the PBS video website. In true PBS form, there are some excellent lesson plans for teachers to use in conjunction with the video.
